What makes a "hunting" ebike
Share
Advertising a bike for hunting and designing a bike for hunters are 2 completely different things. Here are the top 10 features that make a bike specifically designed for hunting.
1. NO DERAILLEUR The derailleur is the most common part to fail. Bikes with derailleurs are not designed to go through grass, corn, sticks or thick mud
2. Drivetrain configuration- the bike should be designed with a serious consideration of how it is actually geared. It should be geared to climb hills, throttle only.
3. 4 piston hydraulic brakes - If there is going to be an emphasis on hill climbing the bike needs to be able to stop on the way down the hill
4. Fat tires 4+” wide - Tire width equal flotation and ride comfort. When you are riding in sand, snow, mud and loose terrain wider tires are a must.
5. Battery - A 52v battery is a more efficient use of power. Extra large batteries provide extended range and the peace of mind that you won’t run out of power.
6. Handlebar width - How come no one talks about handlebar width? If you are traversing corn rows or wooded areas a 25” handlebar width is superior. If you want more real estate on the bike for mounting a bow/gun you may want to go to 30”
7. Step Thru Frame - large boots and additional clothing. Compounded by uneven terrain and additional equipment. Necessitate the comfort and safety offered by a step thru frame.
8. Trailer Attachments - The last thing you want to do is attach a trailer directly to the axle. Bending the rear axle is the quickest way to make the bike inoperable. If a bike is designed for hunters, it should have specific trailer attachment points.
9. Rear Rack Design - Is the rear rack designed with ways to not only attach to a trailer but with the strength and features to secure treestands and other equipment
10. Public Land Compliant- 2 tires and equipped with peddles. Does the bike have the ability to be class 1 and class 2 public land compliant: without sacrificing performance.
When it comes to using ebikes for hunting. The reality is bikes were never designed to go off road through tall grass and challenging terrain. At FaceOff Ebikes we only design bikes with the sole purpose of performing in demanding hunting conditions. Bikes built to go where other bikes cant.
